Days Off: Your days off will be the same as your spouse regardless of department. They can be consecutive days (unless otherwise requested) and during the week. Once set, your days off will remain the same through midAugust. At that time we may ask you to adjust your days in order to better serve the operation of the park. Additional work hours may be available at that time. Please be flexible. We appreciate all your help.

Passbooks: Each team member will receive both the White Mountain Attractions Association (WMAA) Passbook and the New England Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (NEAAPA) Passbook. The approximate value of the passbooks is $700.00+ so please be careful not to lose them, they cannot be reissued.

Park Passes: Each team member will receive 12 passes to Story Land & 12 passes to Living Shores (you must work 80 hours first). You can give them to whomever you choose. They are valid for the current season only and are not reissued if lost. Team members can come into the Park as a guest for free any day they are not working.

Walk to Work: The camp sites are located next door to the park so you can walk to work each day. Not only will you get a walk in but you will save money on gas!

Job Rotation: Within your department you may learn a variety of jobs. This not only makes you a more well-rounded, valuable cast member, it also keeps your job more interesting!

Uniforms: Team members can pick up uniforms from Wardrobe during your orientation (if on property) or at Department Training. We supply you with 3 polo shirts for you to use throughout the summer. You will be responsible for laundering and returning them at the end of the season (We supply short sleeved polo shirts & shorts only…we do encourage you to provide your own shorts/pants as we have limited amounts of shorts...no pants). If you prefer to wear your own black or khaki shorts, pants, or capris please have approved by Wardrobe.

Park Discounts: You will receive 50% off food and 35% on gift shop purchases (excluding books and sale merchandise) in the Park. You get 25% off at our Dunkin Donuts.

We are always open to new ideas for activities so if you have suggestions please let us know. These evenings are cast member driven, however management is happy to assist.

Team Member Parties: Over the course of the summer we host a variety of team member parties at Story Land as well as a couple hosted at nearby attractions. We have entertainment and food available to all that attend. Some of the past entertainment has included: team competitions, karaoke, talent shows, and a hypnotist. We are always looking for new ideas so please let us know your thoughts.

WOW Program: The WOW Program recognizes and rewards team members who go above and beyond in their work. Team members can earn WOW cards in a variety of ways, from providing exceptional guest service, to doing a great job behind the scenes. The ways to earn cards are endless, the goal is to motivate team members to exceed our expectations & help provide an awesome experience for our guests! Cards are entered into drawings for prizes throughout the season. Prizes have ranged from $100 gift cards to large TVs, electronic devices, kayaks, mountain bikes, and so much more!

The above and any additional benefit the company chooses to give are discretionary. Please accept our appreciation for your hard work, but it should not be considered a yearly expectation.

    • In the Neighborhood

You will be living with the following people in the housing area, which includes RV sites, the “motel”, and the duplex (an apartment building). Please remember to be respectful to both your fellow neighbors and Story Land’s property.

International Students: Since 1988 Story Land has hired hundreds of International students from around the world as part of our seasonal team. They have helped enrich our team. They work primarily in Rides and Food & Beverage. We have approximately 75 students that live in the team member motel that is next to your living area. Countries we have hired from over the years include: ❖ Armenia ❖ Austria ❖ Bulgaria ❖ Canada ❖ China ❖ Colombia ❖ Croatia ❖ Czech Republic ❖ Dominican Republic ❖ Egypt ❖ England ❖ France ❖ Germany ❖ Ghana ❖ Hungary ❖ Ireland ❖ Italy ❖ Jamaica ❖ Kazakhstan ❖ Kenya ❖ Latvia ❖ Lithuania ❖ Macedonia ❖ Moldova ❖ Mongolia ❖ Montenegro ❖ Nigeria ❖ Poland ❖ Romania ❖ Russia ❖ Scotland ❖ Serbia ❖ Singapore ❖ Slovakia ❖ South Korea ❖ Spain ❖ Taiwan ❖ Thailand ❖ Turkey ❖ Turkmenistan ❖ Ukraine ❖ Uzbekistan ❖ Vietnam

Entertainment Performers: Performers live in the duplex (building next door to the back campsites) and will be performing in our daily shows in the park.

Residents: You are living in a residential area of privately owned homes where all owners have joined an association to maintain a proper level of quiet and order. It is acceptable to participate in outside activities; however, once nightfall arrives, you should limit your outside activities and lower your noise level. All outside noise should cease by 10:00PM. The neighborhood is patrolled regularly by local and town officials who will report any “un-neighborly behavior” to the local police department and/or Story Land. Our own security will make rounds through the area a few times each evening.

Guests: If you would like to have family or friends stay overnight please let Eric or Tiffany know one or two days in advance so that we know who is on the property. This policy is in place for guests to stay for a short visit. If your guests need a more long term living arrangement they will need to make alternate plans. If you have any questions please ask. Any failure to follow these rules may result in the loss of guest visits for all cast members living on Story Land property.

Pet Care: Story Land does allow residents on the property to have pets, however they are not allowed inside any Story Land buildings. During the day they may stay in your RV/camper/motor home or use our kennels. Owners will need to supply their own food, water, and dish bowls. When the animals are not in your home or in a kennel, they must be on a leash. You may take them for walks in the Story Land parking lot (not in the park) or in the neighborhood, but please clean up after them. Story Land is not responsible for your pet’s health and general welfare; so please keep them safe. Smoking: Smoking is prohibited inside any Story Land buildings. Smoking is only permitted at your campsite. Please make sure that all cigarette butts are properly disposed of in a fire resistant container. A high risk of fire exists in our region. At work, smoking is only allowed during break time in the designated team member smoking area. - 10 - Laundry Room Use: We have washers and dryers for both workampers and students to use in the chalet. You may use these machines at any hour, but please be considerate of each other and share machines. For example, don’t use all the washers at the same time. PLEASE DO NOT remove other people’s laundry. If you do not stay in the laundry room while doing laundry, please set a timer for yourself to remind you to check on your laundry. Please do not put laundry in before going to work, as other workampers and students might need it to use it during the day.

Trash Pick-Up: We recycle. All garbage must be separated (glass, plastic, and aluminum cans in separate containers and all regular trash in the general trash). Place the separated trash in barrels located in the trash cage behind the chalet or behind the duplex if your site is out back next to the duplex. Make sure that bags are tied tightly and no food is left outside. Bears and other animals are present in the area and we do not want to attract them. Our Story Land crew will pick up and dispose of the garbage in the cage every day.

Damages and Appliance Problems: If you notice any damage to Story Land buildings or problems with plumbing, electrical, or Story Land appliances please report it to Tiffany or Tricia immediately.

Alcohol & Drug Use - Company Drug Policy: Story Land maintains a strong commitment to provide a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. Accordingly, we require all team members to report for work fit to perform their jobs. Story Land prohibits actual or attempted unauthorized use, possession, sale, transfer, or distribution of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances on our property, at any related function or event, or while en route to or from any of our functions or events. In the event of an incident involving guests or team members that requires hospital care, off-site professional drug testing may be required. Violations of this policy could result in possible termination and or legal action.

Firearms, Weapons, or Fireworks: No firearms, weapons, or fireworks of any kind are allowed on Story Land property at any time.

You may use your current bank, however keep in mind many major banks (such as Bank of America) do not have any branches in our area.

A: We do provide Wi-Fi service to all workampers and international students living on the property. Q: Who do I talk to if I am having problems with my job, living situation, or a personal matter?

A: If you had a successful season, we will send out “Welcome Back” letters/emails in November/December requesting that you complete an online application. You should also let Tiffany or KeeKee know of your wishes to return prior to your leaving in the fall. We often sit down and discuss how your season went, etc.

A: You will be asked to vacate the campsite within 24 hours. Any employee incentive is forfeited.

Q: Is it possible to change departments if I am not happy where I am working?

Q: Why are the seasonal supervisors young?
A: Our seasonal supervisors are typically late teens – early twenties. Many have worked here for several summers and are our ‘seasoned’ team members. They have continued to learn and become exceptional team members. We appreciate your openness to working with all of our team members.
